well, apparently i do need a man, but only for instructions, not to replace my car's headlights for me. as some of you know (including the nice officer that didnt ticket me), my jetta has been in need of a headlight for at least a month now (i think i noticed it first when we took that trip to the zoo), and yesterday the other one went out as well. today georgia and i went to auto zone (they used to have that awesome commercial jingle and ive loved it for that ever since) to purchase two headlights. well, after trying to figure out how to replace them for 10 minutes without making any progress i called my dad who found a how-to video on the clickyweb. now, it was very helpful, and very easy to follow, but did me no good with my jetta. turns out jettas are not as easy as mazdas. so i came back into the house to google 'replace headlight 2004 jetta' and came across this gal's answer. perfect. it was sorta hard, especially the driver's side one (there is little room for moving around), but it is done. and they work!

disclaimer: we were not going on a bike ride. we put on the helmets for photo opportunities only. i know that a child should be strapped in properly and that i should have shoes on that are suitable for riding a bike.

for christmas i got a bike trailer for georgia to ride in. ive wanted one for a while, and am glad to have recieved it, but the weather has been cold and i usually dont have much daylight when i get home for bike riding, so i havent bothered to put it together until tonight. as you can see here, it turned out well. i have it in stroller mode right now (you add the wheel in the front and the handlebar), and tomorrow will attempt to attach it to my bike.

i was thinking this weekend about all the classes i took in biology in college. while at the zoo, i noticed a lot of palnts that i remembered from some lower-level bio class (i think it was probably the second sememser of the intro to bio for biology majors since it had a rediculous amount of lab hours each week, at least if i remember correctly), and we had to memorize the class, order and family of these plants. it was really the begining of my dislike for biology, and truthfully, one of the only two classes that made me wonder about why i would ever want to learn bio in the first place. anyhoo, these plants i saw made me wonder why on gods green earth i ever had to memorize what they were classified as (is that even the right way to put it?), and it made me a little mad even, to think of all the time i wasted learning about equisetopsida, and recognizing it in a lab, for an exam, when i could have been learning something important. i suppose it was good, in some way, but i am sure i missed the point, which was probably something like learning to recognize differences in plants that are important, rather than things that make them alike (but theyre all green...). whatever. what i really wanted to say, was that this thinking about plants made me wonder how dr prince is doing, a professor i had for one of my genetics classes (my favorite bio teacher, hands down, as well as my favorite subject in biology). he was awesome, and if i thought he would remember me i would send him an email right now, but he wouldnt, so i wont bother him (he's one of those sporadic types of people, and i can just imagine him feeling like he needed to write me back, even though he wouldnt know who i was, and never getting around to it because he would always have some super-important thought that he has to work on, about some pepper plant in brazil or something).
also, i got a new dress this weekend:

1. ive been thinking about joining the junior league. i started thinking about it in college, and never did anything about it, and recently have met a neighbor that is a member of the bakersfield junior league, and she gave me some info on how to join and such. the junior league building is right by my house, i pass it a lot on walks, and its super pretty.
2. i was telling some of you about a raclette. it is something that we should do sometime for dinner. my dad has two and im sure would love to host a evening.
3. a guy came into the mortuary the other day to have me design invitations for his 30th birthday party. he had then done like a funeral folder, the things that we hand out for a service, and they turned out really well. very fun to do.

i got an email from milena, who found another bit of her cutie booty song on the clickyweb:
I see your hiney
it's (your color) and shiny
If you don't hide it
I'm gonna bite it
best verse so far, imo. and now i will have it stuck in my head again.

my neighbors, josh and milena, have three kids (and a fourth, maybe fifth on the way) and have a great song they sing with them that their aunt taught them. it goes like this (i asked milena to email it to me, and she laughed and said 'are you going to put it on your blog'?):
(In a sing-song voice)
(the following verses are ones they made up to go along with the first three original ones):
I see your tushie.
anyway, they sing this little song and its super funny.
