the babys room

these are what i am going to use to create the babys room. i havent yet picked exactly what i want, and am going to change the pattern a bit, but you get the idea. i will start working on the design in the next week i suppose, and i welcome input from anyone, especially those that have done this sort of thing before. i figure it will take a while to do the painting, but i also think it will be worth it. then i can start picking everything else, like curtains.

the office

i love this guy. not only is he a total babe, hes the least akward one on the show. i have not been a big fan of the show, but i was watching it tonight (i am guessing it must be a rerun) and it wasnt so bad.

eating

well, last week when i went to the doctor they weighed me. they have for each of the regular monthly visits, and i have been consistantly losing weight. now, in the begining, the first time i went, there was no comparison really since i hadnt had any visits prior, and my blood test said i was in really good health (except for high cholesterol), so the doctor wasnt worried about my weight. i realize i am not a skinny girl, and to be honest, have never really felt like i should be or anything, and weight is a big deal during pregnancy, they say 25-35 pounds gained is ideal, so i knew i should be paying attention to my weight. well, the visit at 3 months (my 2nd visit) i had lost 3 pounds, but no one was worried, and i had been having really bad morning sickness, so hadnt been eating much, and puking a lot of what i did consume. for the 4 month visit i lost another 2 pounds, and still no worries. i was feeling better, but the doc said that after week 16 i should be gaining 1 pound a week for the rest of the pregnancy (40 weeks total, with 24 weeks left after week 16, so 24 pounds total gained, minus the weight lost at the begining). so, i prepared for this weight gain. not too fun, but whatever. so, the last time i went to the doc i had lost another 4 pounds. now that was just strange. i have never been a weight looser, and i look really fat. so, she scheduled me for an appointment 2 weeks from now instead of 1 month, and gave me a list of what to eat. im sitting here eating muenster cheese (my favorite) and drinking pink lemonade out of the bottle.

i am going to watch more tv

i have decided that i dont watch enough. i have missed out on a lot of shows, survivor, lost, 90210, etc., and am going to do something about it. these are the ones i watch regularly (although its re-run season): the oc, jeopardy, antiques roadshow, deadwood. those are the ones that i dont tend to miss, although jeopardy is hit-and-miss with it being on every weeknight. i also watch poker on tv, but thats more just because its on and less of a choice.
i have found a new show, lucky louie, though that is very funny. it is on hbo and is 1/2 hour. its on right after entourage, another show i really enjoy, and will be added to my list. i wouldnt mind watching big love either, the people that watch it seem to really like it (and i have met at least 5 of them), but i understand its season is over. so, who knows. im open to suggestions as to what to check out, but keep in mind, i have crappy taste in shows. none of this seinfield, arrested development, curb your enthusiasm stuff.

its a girl

well, its a girl. here are her pictures:
the dot on her belly is a hand.

her elbow and forearm are just above her nose and mouth in this one, and her other arm and hand are alongside the back of her head. her skin is really thin still, and she doesnt have alot of muscle or fat yet, so her bones are really easy to see. when she would turn and look at us her head looked just like a skull. very strange.

the two arrows are pointing to her girl parts. i asked the doc if there is any chance of her growing boy parts, and she said no. so, its a girl.

the ultrasound took forever, they had to measure everything, but we got to see her heart ans kidneys and spine and all. they took almost 30 pics, i guess they run ratios on it all to find out more info about her due date.

so there she is.

exciting news

ive been doing really boring work this afternoon. the only good thing about doing desk work is that i can be online all day without really seeming like it. but i did get a lot done, and now im just waiting to hear back from the health department about a death certificate that has been taking up most of my time.

but now for the exciting news: i get to do some real work on friday. all day friday i will spend doing reconstruction on an accident victim. i wish i could go into detail about it, but i dont think that is legal, nor do i think you all would really like to hear it. i just am excited to be able to do the part of my job that i excell at. so, there you go.

i finished my lady

well, she is finished, but i want a background for her. she isnt perfect, but i am very happy with her. most of the drawings i attempt are done in pointalism, its much easier not to ruin it since its done dot by dot. this one made me nervous. i liked the way she looked after i penciled her in, and almost didnt ink her for fear of the permanance of lines drawn incorrectly. well, i did it, and now am thinking about her background. i also am thinking about coloring her in with chalks, but have not really done that before, so i might not. anyhoo, here she is, i dont have a name for her yet:

haircut

here is the haircut i got today. im too vain not to post pictures, and i will never be able to make it look this good, and i must say, it looks pretty good.

this last one looks like i have something coming out of my nose. in reality, its part of the dali naked lady picture above the toilet, but its pretty funny.

new project

this is what i am working on now. this is going to be part of the border. if i work on it again soon ill post another pic or two.

it is actually in the upper left hand corner of the page, i just have it turned. id say the pic is 3 or 4 inches tall so far. the plan is to have a lady inside a frame, and this is the style of that frame.

i even bought new pens for it. really liking them.

finished

a couple of weeks ago i decided to make an art for a friend. well, it didnt turn out as i had hoped, so im going to keep it for myself, but im not disappointed. here it is. it is a collage.

its 12"x12" and doesnt fit properly into the scanner, but you can get the main idea. also, the colors arent as good here as i feel they are on the actual piece. it actually looks a lot sloppier here than i think it really does.

i wanted to finish it really badly, so went home at lunch to get it. my hands are all glue-y, but i am glad to be done. luckily, woody isnt here, im all by my lonesome, so i can pretend to do work when i am actually not. yay!

nothing to do

well, the office manager called in sick today, so i am stuck behind a desk all day. normally this wouldnt be a bad job, but no new cases came in this weekend for the south side of kern county, so any paperwork there is to do is old and boring, and i dont want to do it. so i have been blog reading since 8 this morning, after i checked the answering service messages, and i went to leftybrowns site (whoever that is). as it turns out, i know nothing about the political world. now, this does not bother me very much, but as i was reading, i feel a little left out. really, the only political info i get is from real time with bill maher, and even that is hard to follow. so, i am going to be doing some reading today, and am open to suggestions. i doubt ill stay with this very long, as i think it might bore me, but who knows? some parts of politics interest me.

also, my dad was telling me that fresno has free wireless internet available downtown. he read an article in the bee on friday, so on his way to school he stopped in front of the stadium or somewhere and logged on with his laptop. very cool he says, he has always been a big fan of downtown and the fulton mall, now he can go have a bite to eat and surf the web (i just imagine him having a hot dog and checking out the cameras on the monterey bay aquarium site). so, back to my question: where is that article? did anyone see it? i looked arount the bees site, but couldnt find it. just wondering.

and, if anyone wants to join me for the day, come on over, i am so bored. or you can drop me a line.

fathers day

well, i had a decent fathers day, and i am going to be nice enough to let you all know what happened.
woke up at 830 and watched the movie 'saved' with mandy moore. funny, although i dont know that i would have paid to rent it.
watched some soccer, australia v brazil and then later korea v france, the latter of which was more of a background noise type of thing while i cleaned and did laundry.
the rest of the afternoon was spent touching up on cleaning the house in order to get ready for my parents coming over (that, and the house was really a mess).
the folks came over at around 230 this afternoon. i was planning on coming down to fresno on saturday night and staying until sunday so that i could hang out with my dad for fathers day as long as we didnt get too busy at work, which i figured we wouldnt, and woody would have stayed to work anyway, but my mom called. she offered to bring my dad down to bakersfield for fathers day since my sisters are both in africa for a while. anyhoo, great idea.
we played rummikub for a while (i won twice and woody won once) and then went to dinner. it was a great night, and my parents hadnt been to bakersfield for a while. we hung out after dinner for a bit, woody had to go in to work for a few, someone broke a window, and then my folks went back to fresno.
so thats about it, but i took some pics of the clean house for you all to marvel at.

my cute house, with a nice clean porch.

another view of the porch, with all of my pretty plants. this strawberry planter here has herbs in it, and the plant coming out of the top of it is a pepper plant that has peppers on it. i think i might make some salsa.

here is the living room, i should have taken a close up of the floors, which are super clean. also, the table is now covered in more laundry. all i ever do is laundry and dishes...but at least ive got clean undies this week.

here is the den. you cant tell that everything is clean and dust-free, but you can imagine.

heres the dining room, also with a sparkling floor.

and finally, this is a light that my parents brought me, that my aunt heather took out of my great-aunt sibellas house. it is a really cool art deco (my favorite) light that hangs from the ceiling.

there are four of these covers, and once i get it all cleaned up and put together ill post some more pics of it, or you could come over, i am hoping to install it within the next couple of weeks.

also, there is a fight that we are getting on saturday july 8 between ortiz and shamrock. we are having anyone over that wants to chill, maybe do some deep pit or corned beef and hang out for the weekend. we would love you all to make the trip.

new lunch spot

last week, on thursday, woody and i met some other funeral directors for some lunch at a spot we had not been to yet, narduccis. its a bar and lunch place, and maybe even a spot for dinner as well, but i dont know. weve been by it a number of times, its not even a mile from work, but until the folks from greenlawn (a cemetery/mortuary combo up the street from our mortuary) asked us to go, we never thought to stop in. anyhoo, thats all pretty boring, but heres a sign that was hanging. there were some others, the spot is really old (although this sign is not), just random stuff everywhere. and, turns out they have the best paninni ive ever had, well, except for this one i had in miami.

skillz

i have folded my best flag ever. i folded a flag today for a funeral service tonight that really turned out well. i took a picture of the front and back of it, although i now wish i had taken one of the side as well, so that you could see how flat and perfect the folds are, but i didnt (i was too excited to think straight).
the flag is going to be on display during the service tonight, next to an urn and some flowers, so its nice that it looks so good.
this is the less-good side, but i would like you to nothce that 4 full stars are showing, not one of which is cut off in any way.

this side is better, even though you cant really tell here. just trust me. i did great.

these dumb things again

You Failed 8th Grade Geography

Sorry, you only got 5/10 correct!

You Should Be an Actor

You have a flair for the dramatic, and you probably already do a lot of acting in your day to day life, just to entertain yourself.
No need to steal the spotlight from your friends... You'll get plenty of attention once you start acting professionally!

Your Seduction Style: Au Natural

You rank up there with your seduction skills, though you might not know it.
That's because you're a natural at seduction. You don't realize your power!
The root of your natural seduction power: your innocence and optimism.

You're the type of person who happily plays around and creates a unique little world.
Little do you know that your personal paradise is so appealing that it sucks people in.
You find joy in everything - so is it any surprise that people find joy in you?

You bring back the inner child in everyone you meet with your sincere and spontaneous ways.
Your childlike (but not childish) behavior also inspires others to care for you.
As a result, those who you befriend and date tend to be incredibly loyal to you.

You're a Wild Drunk

You can get enough drink. Seriously, you'll just go puke and start pounding them back again!

Your World View

You are a fairly broadminded romantic and reasonably content.
You value kindness and try to live by your ideals.
You have strong need for security, which may be either emotional or material.

You respect truth and are flexible.
You like people, and they can readily make friends with you.
You are not very adventurous, but this does not bother you.

People Envy Your Compassion

You have a kind heart and an unusual empathy for all living creatures. You tend to absorb others' happiness and pain.
People envy your compassion, and more importantly, the connections it helps you build. And compassionate as you are, you feel for them.

luis and rocio had a baby

okay, really it was just rocio that had the baby, but luis was there, and 1/2 of its genes are his.

baby girl, 7lbs 4oz, 20 inches long. she is called gemma (pronounced 'hemma') which means gem in spanish. rocio gave birth early monday morning and we went to the hospital that afternoon. luis looked tired, but everyone seemed happy. they should be home by now.

so, thats all, just wanted to say congrats to my friends.

madonna

i got a call from my friend ann yesterday morning. some of you might know her, shes come out for drinks with me a few times. funny, i almost didnt answer the phone because i was fairly busy and she, like myself, is a talker. but, i did answer, and as it turns out she had 2 extra tickets to see madonna in fresno last night. her husband works for fresno state, although i am not too sure what he actually does, and the concert hadnt sold out in the $350 section (i wonder why...). well, madonnas people and savemart centers people werent about to let the concert go on with unfilled seats, so they gave the tickets away to csuf people. so, they got 4 tickets and last minute the couple that they were going with cancelled. this is where i come in. i am anns funnest friend, so she called. woody didnt want to go, and i had no idea who i would take, so i went by myself and they gave the fourth ticket away to some of his co-workers that could use an extra. it was a good show. she didnt sing vogue for me though. i took some pics, and scanned in my ticket (i had to, since it was so expensive and i got it for free).

this is a pic of the stage. there was a catwalk type of thing down the center, and one coming out on either side.

this was going to be a piuc of her on her cross, but they all came out like this. there was a big deal in bakersfield about this cross she was on, im sure fresno heard about it too. i think she and kanye got their crowns made by the same company.

and here is the ticket. i am so lucky.

whos with me?

well, vegas is just around the corner.

woody and i are planning on leaving thursday around 5pm from our house. we are contemplating taking a limo, so we have room for anyone that wants to join us. we will be coming back sunday, not sure what time. i know it might make it hard on some of you that want to go but have to work on friday, but you can always call in sick. so, let me know who wants to come with us, the more the merrier.

ps. happy birthday, kendall.
