work and baby names

well, were pretty busy at work this week. woody and i have a funeral mass tomorrow morning for a well-known man of bakersfield. he was really old and all, so it wasnt unexpected, but he opened a bar way way back in the day that he and his wife ran and it was the watering hole for just about all of east bakersfield (as really still is). really nice family, if you ask me, and the service should be great.

other than that guy we have a mass scheduled for both thursday and friday. 2 of the three masses are going to be said by father craig, who just happens to be my favorite pastor in all of kern county (can preists be called pastors?). he is an amazing speaker and just a nice guy. the other mass will be said by monsignior braun, whom i also like very well, so all in all i am pretty happy. 3 masses in one week for a non-catholic is pretty huge, if i ever convert im set. i might
even take some pics of the churches, they are really pretty.

anyhoo, thats this week in a nutshell, im probably going to wish this weekend was vegas, but hopefully it will be hot enough for me to go swimming and work on my tan.

also, no one ever got the boys name from this list that we like (which is still in the #1 spot, with edward at a close 2rd and partick 3rd), but here is a list with not 1, but 3 girls names on it that we love. hint: one of them is not fiona (although if woody didnt have a huge crush on fiona apple it is a nice name and i might pick it).

i got my washer and drier all hooked up today.

we bought them at sears last week and they came in this weekend. woody and his dad hooked them up this afternoon, so now i am washing clothes. they are great. they say 17 towels fit in them, but i dont have that many to test it.

new music

usually i have my volume turned all the way down when i am surfing the web. mostly it is so that i dont have to listen to peoples music on their myspace, i even forget that it is available. so, the other day i was myspacing and went to my new friend, brians space, and my volume was up. maybe i was in a good mood, or maybe it was really a good song, but i liked it and bought it on itunes today. so, it is a band called clem snide (or maybe its just a guys name, but what kind of name is that, really?) and i havent actually listened to the whole album yet, but will hopefully like it, even if it is 'alternative' which is one of my least favorite genres of music. anyhoo, it got me in the mood to buy music, and so i did. i bought deena carter and sara evans. also, i looked for aaliyah (which itunes has never had), but it wasnt there. if anyone has her albums i would like to borrow them, i cant seem to find them in stores and have yet to come home to them on my doorstep from the music fairy. i also got me & u by cassie (its the one i wanted but didnt know the name of). so, thats that

im not a blonde anymore

i had my hair dyed last night. its brown now. i will take a pic of it when i am feeling prettier, for some reason the pics i have taken this morning are not so cute. i thik its because i am sick.

not really, but...

I am a classic spoons!
Find your own pose!

its hot in bakersfield

well, it was 98 degrees yesterday. nice and toasty. woody and i have been working in the back yard though, and the pool is loverly. we had to buy a new pool vacuum ( i never know how to spell that), and i is working very well. we also got some patio furniture (or that) that is comfy and chic. like most of the things at our house, it came from target. the plants that i have been working so hard on have all made it so far, even the creeping fig that i figured wouldnt. so, we are ready for company. would anyone like to come spend some time this summer?

pictures and randomness

today i realized how huge i am getting. it almost gave me a panic attack.
i was at work today and met with a family at about 10am. the whole time i was so hot and sweaty. it was awful. i felt like i was soaking wet. how embarassing, right? and the whole time i kept thinking that i couldnt wait until i was done so that i could unbutton my suit pants and lay down to cool off. even more embarassing...
so, woody came in after i was done, and he saw (and heard) how miserable i was, so he said i should go shopping. it didnt really sound like fun, but i dont fit in most of the suits i own anymore. so i went. turns out the maternity selection in bakersfield sucks.

on another topic, when we were in fresno this past weekend we went to my parents church. this is a pic of a banner that my mom painted. its about 10 or so feet tall. it reads 'amazing grace' and has jesus on it. i wish it came out better in the pic.

bored at work

i am working a visitation tonight from 2-8pm. i had a family to meet at 2 to make arrangements for one of their family members that ended up lasting until almost 5 (they usually take 1.5 to 2 hours), and am pretty pooped now. i was planning on paying some bills, but am not very motivated. so, im just waiting for my phone to ring, just in case one of you wanted to give me a jingle.

today was a good day

actually, i am going to start with yesterday:
i found out what the song was that i like so much.

then i got home last night and had a package from my aunt joanne in san jose. i left a cookbook at the sea ranch house and she sent it back to me, although there were also presents for me in it (well, the card was to woody and me, but theyre really for me). here is a list of what was in the package:
hooter hider - its like an apron that goes around the neck and covers the front of the body so that if one has to breast feed around people they dont have to show them their boobs. after all, babies are born to be breast fed (that was on a billboard i saw today).
lots of books. here are the titles (i am leaving out the cook book):
the tao of poop: keeping your sanity (and your soul) while raising a baby
how my breasts saved the world: misadventures of a nursing mother (just so you all arent confused, i am going to breastfeed this kid)
baby laughs: the naked truth about the first year of motherhood (this one, as well as the next title, are by jenny mccarthy, but aunt joanne swears they are good despite that)
belly laughs: the naked truth about pregnancy and childbirth
and finally:
operating instructions: a journal of my sons first year
now, this last title is the one i started reading. it is by an author with quite a few other books out named anne lamott. aunt joanne says it is a great book, as well as her others, and so i decided to read it first. well, i got through the first paragraph or so and realized that just about every sentence reminded me of eleanore. i realize that i do not really know her, and also that i dont think she wants to have children, but i swear, there is something about it that makes me think of her. anyhoo, it is a good read and i laughed out loud quite a few times. she is quite cynical (the author, not eleanore). recomended.

and now for today:
i had to go to the mexican consulate in fresno. i left this morning and got my paperwork in by 930 am, and they said it would be ready in an hour (very surprising, usually it takes half a day). so, i called my friend, ed, and we went to the chicken pie shop for breakfast. very nice. then i went home, but stopped by calwa elementary to say hi to my dad, who was surprised to see his favorite daughter.
nothing exciting happened at work, but i did get to go to a crematory and see a cremation in the process. very strange. if anyone wants to know what its like, let me know, but i wont put it here for the sake of the normal people of the world that would rather not know about it.
then, i got home and had another package! thanks to nick, the woodys all have new shirts from even the baby got one. i opened up this baby shirt, and really, it is very hard to believe that i am not going to break something so little.

so, i think there was something else, but i cant think of what it is.
